A New Chapter for Rachel Moody and Moab Living

There are moments in business when you look around and realize things are changing faster than you expected.
This has been one of those seasons for me.
After more than 23 years of building a real estate business in Moab, I’ve made some big decisions about what comes next. Some were difficult. Some were exciting. And some were a little bit of both.
Back to Where It Began
For me, the story starts at Center Street Square.
Twenty-five years ago, I moved into an apartment on the second floor and started working as a server at the new Desert Bistro in their first location on Center Street. Shortly after my daughter, Corah, was born, the building owners hired me as their property manager, and my real estate career began on the deck of that same apartment.
What started as a job grew into a business. In 2008, I opened a boutique brokerage, Real Estate Company of Moab, at Center Street Square, eventually moving into the office at 50 E Center in 2012.
Over the years, I had the opportunity to sell the complex, work with its new owners, and help bring my vision for a “restaurant row” to life. In 2020, I also had the opportunity to help bring Berkshire Hathaway to Moab, another significant chapter in the evolution of my business.
There were plenty of stories, mishaps, challenges of old buildings, and celebrations along the way, including finding a piece of Moab history in Charlie Steen’s refused uranium. But for me, Center Street was about much more than the buildings. It was my home away from home, where I built my business, made lifelong friendships, raised my daughter, celebrated successes, navigated difficult days, and shared countless conversations around the conference room table.
It holds a tremendous amount of history for me, which is why leaving was emotional.
But after 25 years, I knew it was time to turn the page.
Knowing When It’s Time to Move
Leaving Berkshire Hathaway was another big decision.
There are many things I’m grateful for from that chapter, and I have a great deal of respect for the people and relationships that came with it. But over time, the direction, corporate structure, and working environment no longer felt right for our team, nor my daughter’s future.
There were promises and expectations that didn't come to fruition, and I reached a point where I had to ask a simple question: Is this still the right place for the people I’m responsible for?
The answer was no.
That realization wasn't easy, but it was important. As a business owner and a leader, I believe you have to be willing to recognize when something no longer serves your team, your family, or your clients and have the courage to make a change.
So, we did.
What Comes Next
Our move to brand as Moab Living feels different.
There is energy here. There is support. There is room for growth.
KW Success has embraced Moab Living and the vision we have for the future. They’ve given us new tools and resources, but just as importantly, they’ve given our team the support and flexibility to keep building something that feels like us.
And now, for the first time in a long time, I’m looking ahead without feeling like I’m trying to fit our future into someone else’s plans.
We get to build it.
A Place of Our Own
That brings me to the part I’m probably most excited about.
We have secured the future home of Moab Living - Rachel Moody Real Estate Team.
We’re going to break ground on a new office on the same block where Corah came home from the hospital.
There’s something pretty special about that. I started this business at Center Street with very little idea of what it would eventually become. Decades later, I get to help build a home for the team and brand we’ve created.
It feels like a full circle moment, but it also feels completely new.
And I think that’s what this whole season is really about.
A Little Patience on the Party
We’re also taking a pause on our annual Block Party this year.
I know it has become a Moab tradition, and I know many of you look forward to it. I love that about the Block Party. It’s always been about bringing our clients, friends, and community together.
This year, with everything else happening, we decided to give ourselves the time to do it right.
So, we’re already looking toward fall 2027 and planning our 7th Moab Living Community Appreciation Block Party.
Trust me, it will be worth the wait.
Still Moab Living
Through all this change, the most important things haven’t changed.
I’m still here. Our team is still here. We’re still answering the phone, helping people buy and sell homes, talking real estate over coffee, and doing our best to be good stewards of the community we love.
The heart of Moab Living is the same.
I’m proud of what I started 25 years ago. I’m grateful for the people who helped me build it. And I’m incredibly excited about what we’re building now.
Sometimes the best way to honor where you’ve been is to have the courage to move forward.
That’s what we’re doing.
And I can’t wait to show you what comes next.
With love, gratitude and happiness,
Rachel

Good speed ahead Rachel! You were our realtor in 2009 and we’re excellently informed and skilled as you showed us everything and then helped us turn around our offers and obtain the perfect property, neighborhood and view. You had the 09 downturn challenges and found success for us both because of your talents and heart ❤️ which mattered to us. Congratulations on providing for Corah, your clients and team. That was more than 17 years ago. congratulations Tazi n Jeffery
